WUSA Channel 9 delighted (and maybe disappointed a few) Nats fans by reporting earlier today that the MLB had selected the Lerner-Kasten group to buy the Nats. There was just one problem: it wasn't true. Yet. By this afternoon Channel 9 had revised its report, saying that MLB will announce "as early as Friday" that the Lerners are buying the Nats. MLB was forced to even issue a press release Wednesday afternoon, where MLB president Bob DuPuy decried the "unfortunate speculation rampant in the media in Washington" and that the rumors of a decision "are baseless". Rampant media speculation? In Washington? No!!
