The King returns

- The Nats on Saturday signed reliever Ray King to a minor league deal with a spring training invitation. King, with the Nats for most of last season before being traded to Milwaukee in September, is expected to return to his role as left-handed specialist. The Nats also signed former Braves utility infielder Pete Orr to a minor league contract.
- In yet another column on the Mitchell Report, Tom Boswell includes an intriguing passage about the Nats: "In '05, new Nats GM Jim Bowden stared at a player who'd been an Expos standout. 'He looks smaller this year,' Bowden said. By the next year the player had been traded." Just who was Bowden referring to? Inquiring minds want to know, but there are some pretty obvious candidates…
